If I am not mistaken, Goldman Sachs called the real estate crunch, making millions.

Why should we expect that those folks over there aren't calling another one.

Exide Battery Corporation, a worldwide battery powerhouse, is planning to take some major strides in the coming months. The dedicated deep cycle battery plant, Greenfield, located in Bangladesh, should begin producing batteries at full capacity by April 2008 the company announced. These batteries could move the Exide battery brand up from 13% to roughly 20% of the worldwide battery market.

“Europe, especially Germany and Scandinavian countries, will be the biggest contributor to our export growth in the next fiscal. NSS, Exide Technologies and GS Yuasa of the US are the 3 largest deep cycle standby and traction batteries used today. Exide Battery would be the 4th largest manufacturer of these deep cycle batteries as their Indian factory comes on line. Crown Battery of the United States, and Rolls Surrette of Canada are the undisputed flooded deep cycle battery quality, duration, and ah quality kings, but they don't manufacture enough batteries annually to compete with these larger conglomerates. AT&T has had it with their solid state batteries. They have declared that all of the solid batteries they purchased from Avestor are "Dangerous". Here is a quote from the story, "(the telecom) cabinet in Houston was ripped to shreds by an explosion that industry sources say could have very likely been caused by Avestor's lithium-metal polymer (LMP) battery becoming unstable."

These batteries will be replaced with Ni-CAD batteries from SAFT Corporation. SAFT is claiming that their batteries will last over 10 years in this application, and not be prone to thermal runaway in excessively hot environments. What say you in the community to this?
